Giant dogs typically take approximately 18-24 months to reach their adult weight of 45+ kg. During this growth period, their nutritional requirements undergo significant changes. To address these evolving needs, we have formulated two specialized diets: ROYAL CANIN® Giant Puppy, designed for ages 2 to 8 months, and ROYAL CANIN® Giant Junior, recommended for the period of 8 to 18/24 months.

Giant-breed puppies require more time to develop their muscles and bone structure compared to smaller breeds. Consequently, they need a diet rich in protein, calcium, and calories. ROYAL CANIN® Giant Junior is carefully crafted with an adapted protein content to support muscle development during the crucial 8 to 18/24-month phase. Additionally, this formula includes essential nutrients like vitamins C and E to bolster natural defences.

Large dogs, particularly giant breeds, often have sensitive digestive systems and can be prone to issues like diarrhoea and flatulence. To promote healthy digestion, our formula combines beneficial prebiotics such as FOS, MOS, and beet pulp with highly digestible proteins, fostering a balanced intestinal microbiota (gut flora).

Furthermore, ROYAL CANIN® Giant Junior contains precise levels of minerals, including calcium and phosphorus, to support the development of rapidly growing bones. The kibble's design encourages slower ingestion, which can be beneficial for larger dogs.

As your giant-breed junior dog approaches 18/24 months of age, their nutritional requirements will transition to those of an adult dog. At this stage, we recommend transitioning to ROYAL CANIN® Giant Adult to meet their evolving needs.
