This year-round formula is suitable for medium to large parrots, with a particular focus on species such as African greys, cockatoos, large conures, eclectus, macaws, and pionus. After a 6-month conversion period, other bird species may also transition to the Adult Lifetime Formula.
Here are some specific guidelines for using this formula:
Conversion: All birds should initially start and remain on the High Potency Formula for a minimum of 6 months.
Special Needs: This formula is beneficial for birds undergoing molting, those struggling with weight issues (overweight or underweight), highly active birds, birds in cold climates, those recovering from illness, or those affected by liver or kidney disease.
Weaning Birds: High Potency Formula should be fed to weaning birds for a duration of at least 6-9 months.
Breeding Birds: For breeding birds, it's recommended to feed them High Potency Formula 1-2 months before the breeding season and continue until the chicks are fully weaned. Alternatively, they can stay on this formula for at least six months before transitioning to the Adult Lifetime Formula. You may increase the amount of certified organic vegetables and fruits during this period. For every 2 tablespoons (20 g) of formula, add ½ tablespoon (5 g) of certified organic peanuts or almonds and 1 tablespoon (10 g) of certified organic sunflower seeds.
Storage: Harrison's Bird Foods do not contain artificial preservatives. Once opened, it's advisable to use a bag of Harrison's within 8 weeks. Storing the food in the fridge or freezer can help maintain its freshness for an extended period.
